This significant financial allocation underscores the administration's commitment to honoring the cultural and spiritual legacy of the festival, which is considered a vital symbol of Telangana's heritage. Extensive Planning for Bonalu Celebrations
Backward Classes Welfare Minister Ponnam Prabhakar recently chaired a high-level review meeting at the Dr. MCR HRD Institute in Jubilee Hills. During this session, he emphasized the need for seamless coordination among various government departments to host the Bonalu celebrations efficiently. He highlighted that the state has gained vast experience in managing major public events, and the same level of dedication is expected for this year's observance. Officials have been directed to ensure that every devotee, including the very last person in the queue, experiences a smooth and hassle-free darshan.
The government has shown a consistent upward trend in supporting religious institutions. Financial aid for temples has grown remarkably, reaching a record 3,026 temples in 2025, compared to 1,028 temples back in 2021. This proactive approach aims to maintain transparency in identifying eligible temples and addressing the needs of the massive crowds expected during the auspicious month of Ashadha.
Safety and Logistical Arrangements
To accommodate the influx of worshippers at prominent sites such as the Golconda, Balkampet, Ujjaini Mahakali, Sabzi Mandi, and Akkanna Madanna temples, a comprehensive security and logistics plan is underway. Minister Ponnam Prabhakar has instructed the police, traffic, and civic departments to prioritize crowd management and the safety of women. Furthermore, the TGSRTC is expected to deploy special bus services to cater to the high volume of commuters, particularly leveraging the free bus travel scheme for women.
The Information and Public Relations Department has been tasked with conducting widespread publicity regarding the festival’s unique traditions, schedules, and government-provided facilities. Additionally, the Archaeology Department will continue the tradition of free entry for devotees visiting the Golconda Fort throughout the month. Essential infrastructure, such as reliable power supply, clean drinking water, fire safety, and medical camps, will be established at all major temple locations to ensure a secure and dignified experience for all participants.
