The Deputy Chief Minister of Telangana highlighted ongoing efforts to implement green energy projects through rural solar panel installations, aiming to reduce electricity bills while supporting agricultural growth. The initiative will also strengthen the state's power supply infrastructure amid increasing demand.

Telangana Aims for Green Energy with Solar Panel Rollout

Highlights

  • Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka: Promoting renewable energy for economic benefits and agricultural support.
  • Unique solar sheds designed by TGREDCO serve as both power generation units and storage spaces for farmers.
  • 81 model villages designated for the installation of solar panels to enhance green energy adoption and reduce costs.
  • No power cuts despite increased demand: Success achieved through improved transformers and increased generation capacity.

Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka announced Telangana's plans to transform into a green energy hub by promoting renewable resources, notably solar power. Addressing stakeholders at Garlapadu in the Bonakal mandal of Khammam district, he detailed initiatives aimed at reducing electricity bills and generating additional income for rural households. According to Bhatti, households could earn about Rs 500 per month through the installation of solar panels.

Furthermore, the Telangana Renewable Energy Development Corporation (TGREDCO) has designed unique solar sheds that serve dual purposes—electricity generation and as rest areas for farmers. The corporation identified 81 villages as model solar villages, where the process of installing solar panels is currently underway. Bhatti strongly encouraged farmers and domestic consumers to utilize these schemes.

Telangana's Power Supply Success

Despite an increase in peak electricity demand from 15,000 MW in 2023-24 to the current 18,542 MW, there have been no power cuts. This success is attributed to measures such as installing additional transformers and boosting generation capacity. Bhatti also highlighted the positive impact on paddy production, crediting uninterrupted free power supply to agricultural pump sets for higher yields.

More broadly, Bhatti criticized opposition leaders like T. Harish Rao for their criticisms of government policies, challenging them to an open debate on issues such as paddy procurement.

Earlier, he inaugurated solar panels installed in Chinnabeerapally and laid the foundation stone for development works in Errupalem mandal aimed at expanding renewable energy adoption.
