The Telangana Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has intensified its ongoing campaign against corrupt government officials by initiating a formal disproportionate assets (DA) case against a senior official. The latest action targets Malla Reddy, who serves as the Excise Superintendent in the Nizamabad district.
Authorities have launched extensive raids at the residence and various other properties associated with Malla Reddy since the early morning hours to uncover evidence of illicit wealth. This operation follows a significant recent breakthrough by the ACB involving S. Narahari Rao, the Deputy Director of Survey and Land Records. Investigations into his affairs revealed a substantial cache of hidden wealth, including Rs. 1.50 crore in cash and gold jewelry discovered within two bank lockers.
Details of the Disproportionate Assets Case
The investigation into S. Narahari Rao provides a stark look at the scope of these anti-corruption efforts. Officials successfully executed searches across a dozen locations linked to Rao and his alleged associates. Following his arrest, Rao was presented before a special court dedicated to ACB matters, which subsequently ordered him into 14 days of judicial custody.
The scope of the assets identified during these operations is extensive. Documentation related to five open plots in the Ranga Reddy District, 1.24 acres of agricultural land in Maheshwaram, and multiple high-rise residential properties in Puppalaguda, Narsingi, and Rajendra Nagar were uncovered. Additionally, search teams identified a ground-plus-three-storey building located at TNGOs Colony in Gachibowli and a ground-plus-two-storey residential structure in Chatrinaka.
Beyond real estate, the financial findings are substantial. Officials recovered approximately Rs. 1.54 crore in liquid cash, along with bank balances totaling Rs. 2.29 crore and fixed deposits worth Rs. 5.04 crore. The search also yielded 1.3 kilograms of gold ornaments and eight kilograms of silver. The cumulative value of these assets is estimated to be at least Rs. 13.05 crore, though experts suggest the actual market value of the immovable properties is significantly higher. ACB officials have confirmed that further verification processes are currently underway as they continue to probe the extent of the disproportionate assets case involving these officials.
