The Central Railway has announced a comprehensive plan to accommodate the summer holiday rush with over 2,100 special trains operational from April 15 to July 31. This move is designed to ensure smooth travel experiences for passengers during their summertime vacations.
Key Details of Summer Special Train Services
This initiative involves operating a variety of unreserved and reserved coaches across multiple states. Specifically, Maharashtra will see services from Mumbai and Pune covering 1,359 special trains within the defined period. The plan also includes 394 trains in Bihar, 218 in Uttar Pradesh, 58 in Rajasthan, 52 in Goa, 32 in Madhya Pradesh, 26 in West Bengal, and 26 in Andhra Pradesh from April 16 to June 12.
Of these, 735 trains will be unreserved general coaches to accommodate a broader range of travelers. Meanwhile, 624 reserved coach services will offer additional comfort during the journey. This expansion reflects the railway's commitment to providing efficient and reliable transportation options for millions of passengers planning their summer vacations.
The decision comes as Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav reported that the Indian Railways operated a record 76,352 special trains this year, indicating a continued focus on expanding services in alignment with growing passenger demands. With approximately 25,000 trains running daily across the country, the rail network remains a vital mode of transport for millions.
