The prestigious Overall Championship Trophy was secured by the Southern Command, highlighting their dominance and exceptional skill displayed throughout the competition. The closing ceremony for the third iteration of this competitive regatta was presided over by Lieutenant General Neeraj Varshney, who serves as the Commandant of the Military College of Electronics and Mechanical Engineering (MCEME). In his capacity as Colonel Commandant of the Corps of EME and Commodore of the EME Sailing Association, Lt Gen Varshney underscored the strategic importance of such sporting initiatives. He emphasized that the primary goal of the Corps of EME Sailing Regatta 2026 is to reinvigorate competitive sailing within the ranks while cultivating a pipeline of elite athletes ready to excel on national, Asian, and Olympic platforms.
The performance of the Agniveers drew particular praise during the address. Many participants had undergone rigorous training for merely two to three weeks, yet managed to deliver commendable performances against experienced counterparts. This rapid skill acquisition underscores the discipline and dedication inherent in the personnel involved in the Corps of EME Sailing Regatta 2026. In the competitive ILCA-6 category, the top spot was claimed by Agniveer Patil Anuraj, while Sepoy Mahesh secured the second position, and Agniveer Patil Siddhesh earned third place. The ILCA-7 category saw Agniveer Harsh Tiwari emerge victorious, with Lt Col Mayank Srivastav and Maj Lanka Kiran taking second and third places, respectively.
