SBI Cashback Credit Card Changes: What You Need to Know

Highlights

  • Cashback limit reduced from ₹5,000 to ₹4,000 per statement cycle
  • Spending caps introduced: ₹2,000 online, ₹2,000 offline
  • Redemption of reward points now limited to multiples of 4,000
  • Total monthly capped at ₹4,000 for cashback and rewards

Starting April 1, 2026, significant changes are coming to SBI's Cashback Credit Card. These updates affect how much cashback you can earn and the limits on online and offline transactions. As a cardholder, it's crucial to understand these changes to avoid potential financial losses.

New Cashback Limits: The maximum cashback per statement cycle has been reduced from ₹5,000 to ₹4,000. Additionally, spending limits have been imposed for both online and offline transactions: 5% cashback on online spending up to ₹2,000, and 1% cashback on offline spending up to ₹2,000, meaning a total maximum of ₹4,000 in cashback per month.

Key Changes to Be Aware Of

The new rule limits the cashback you can earn regardless of your spending habits. This means that high spenders might see their benefits reduce significantly if they are unaware of these changes.

Now, cashback and reward points will be capped at ₹4,000 cumulatively per month. While cashback rewards remain unchanged, you can no longer redeem points in any amount; instead, they must be redeemed in multiples of 4,000 and a maximum of 60,000 points can be redeemed each month.

According to SBI's official guidelines, these changes are aimed at maintaining the balance between rewarding cardholders and controlling costs. However, for frequent users of the SBI Cashback Credit Card, this could have significant implications on their monthly savings.

Remember that you can still access your benefits by logging into the SBI Card app. The process remains the same: go to 'More' below Open 'Rewards', click on 'Redeem', select a voucher or product, and complete the redemption check-out.
