Important notice to State Bank of India (SBI) customers: From April 11, 2026, there will be an outage in several OTP-based services during a scheduled maintenance period. The bank has proactively communicated the details through an X post, warning its massive customer base that internet and mobile banking operations might experience interruptions.

Scheduled for between 02:30 PM to 02:50 PM (Indian Standard Time), SBI customers must take note of this maintenance period. Internet Banking, YONO Lite, and YONO OTP services will be unavailable during these two hours. However, the bank has provided alternatives such as ATM services and Secure OTP for continued transactions.

Understanding the Maintenance: What is SBI Secure OTP?

An important part of maintaining transactional security, SBI Secure OTP is an application that generates one-time passwords (OTPs) for users. This ensures additional authentication during online and mobile banking activities.

This service can be accessed through two methods:

  • Online OTP: Requires internet access via a mobile device with SIM or Wi-Fi capabilities.

To register, follow these steps:

  1. Download the SBI Secure OTP app and enter your login credentials. The application will prompt you to send an SMS verification.
  2. Click 'Proceed'; receive a unique code via SMS on your verified mobile number. Standard SMS charges may apply for this step.
  3. Enter the password, acknowledge the terms of service by ticking the box, and click 'Ok.'
  4. An OTP will be sent to the registered mobile number.
  5. Enter the received OTP to validate it. Once validated, set your MPIN (Mobile PIN) for secure authentication in the future.

This registration process ensures seamless transactional security through SBI's services and apps.

While SBI serves over 520 million customers, the impact of this maintenance can be significant. Users should plan their transactions accordingly to avoid inconveniences during this period.
