Sanjay Raut Alleges Rebel Sena MPs Received Rs 10 Crore and Relocated

Highlights

  • Sanjay Raut claims rebel Shiv Sena (UBT) MPs received Rs 10 crore each.
  • Dissident lawmakers have been relocated to a secure site in Rajasthan.
  • Six of nine Lok Sabha MPs skipped a crucial party meeting in New Delhi.
  • The party plans to issue show-cause notices for violating the official whip.

The internal crisis within the Shiv Sena (UBT) has deepened significantly as party leadership makes fresh allegations regarding the conduct of its dissident lawmakers. Sanjay Raut, a prominent leader and Rajya Sabha member of the Shiv Sena (UBT), claimed on Thursday that rebel Members of Parliament have received an additional Rs 10 crore each and have been relocated to a secure facility in Rajasthan.

Addressing a press conference in New Delhi, Sanjay Raut labeled the dissenting MPs as traitors and demanded that their police security detail be revoked immediately. He further asserted that such protection should not be extended to these individuals or their properties. The party has expressed its intention to initiate a firm response against the rebels, which Raut referred to as Operation Tudwa.

Allegations of Financial Inducement and Party Split

The latest accusations add to the political instability facing the Uddhav Thackeray-led faction. Sanjay Raut stated that the rebel MPs were previously offered Rs 15 crore each, with the new payment bringing the total financial incentive into question. He challenged the morality of the dissident lawmakers, urging them to resign their positions and seek a fresh mandate from the public, arguing that the efforts of Shiv Sena (UBT) grassroots workers were instrumental in their original election victories.

These developments coincide with a notable absence of several lawmakers at a recent parliamentary party meeting. Out of the nine Lok Sabha MPs representing the Shiv Sena (UBT), six individuals failed to attend. The meeting was attended by Arvind Sawant, Anil Desai, Rajabhau Waje, and Sanjay Raut. The notable absence of lawmakers such as Nagesh Aashtikar, Sanjay Deshmukh, Sanjay Jadhav, Sanjay Dina Patil, Omprakash Rajenimbalkar, and Bhausaheb Wakchaure appears to confirm an imminent split within the parliamentary wing of the party, potentially signaling a transition toward the rival Shiv Sena faction headed by Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde.

Regarding the procedural consequences of these actions, Arvind Sawant indicated that formal show-cause notices are being prepared for the absent members. Sanjay Raut reinforced this stance, stating that their failure to attend would be formally treated as a violation of the party whip. As the situation evolves, the political landscape in Maharashtra remains highly volatile, with the internal turmoil of the Shiv Sena (UBT) highlighting the sharp divisions within the organization.
