Revanth Reddy Warns AI Storm Will Impact Millions of Jobseekers in Telangana

The rapid emergence of an AI storm is poised to disrupt the employment landscape for countless jobseekers in the coming years. Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy issued this stark warning on Friday, emphasizing the urgent need for a strategic shift in how the state prepares its youth for a changing global economy. To mitigate these risks, the administration is prioritizing comprehensive skill development, educational reform, and the expansion of sports infrastructure.

The remarks were made during a major event at LB Stadium, where the Chief Minister oversaw the distribution of Young India Student Kits to 27.5 lakh students. The program, attended by Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla, also served as a platform to announce significant infrastructure developments, including the laying of foundation stones for new sports complexes across various districts.

Addressing the Challenges of Artificial Intelligence

Highlighting the transformative impact of artificial intelligence on traditional labor markets, Revanth Reddy urged students to view classrooms as the foundation of the state's future reconstruction. He noted that the government is actively countering potential job losses by launching specialized training initiatives. These programs are designed to enhance blue-collar employment opportunities by equipping youth with relevant modern abilities.

As part of this push, the government is facilitating training in foreign languages, such as German and Japanese, alongside English to bolster international career prospects. Furthermore, existing Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) are being upgraded into Advanced Technology Centres (ATCs). The establishment of a dedicated Skill University remains a central pillar in the state's plan to identify and foster the potential of young talent.

Reflecting on the fiscal commitment to these initiatives, the Chief Minister stated that the state budget for 2026-27 allocates 8.5 per cent, or 26,600 crore, specifically for education. He characterized this significant investment as a necessary step for future generations, contrasting it with what he described as a decade of neglect by the previous administration. Efforts are currently underway to revitalize public schools, with the introduction of pre-primary education and a focus on competing with private educational institutions.

Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla, who also administered an anti-drug pledge to the assembled students, commended the Young India Student Kits initiative. The kits contain up to 22 essential learning items for residential students, including books and uniforms. The event also featured the launch of the Anna Akka Mentorship program, focusing on AI and digital learning, alongside exhibitions showcasing advancements in digital governance and mid-day meal operations.
