Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy recently engaged in a series of productive discussions with Union ministers in New Delhi to expedite critical infrastructure projects. These high-level meetings, which took place over two days, focused primarily on advancing the Hyderabad Metro rail project and ensuring the state's development needs are addressed at the central level.

The Telangana Chief Minister held significant consultations with the Union Minister of Railways, Ashwini Vaishnaw, and the Union Minister of Housing and Urban Affairs, Manohar Lal Khattar. Union Coal Minister G Kishan Reddy, who facilitated these meetings, described the interactions as being held in a highly conducive atmosphere, signaling a constructive phase of cooperation between the state and central administrations.

Strategic Focus on Hyderabad Metro Expansion

A central topic during the deliberations was the ongoing financial planning for the Hyderabad Metro project. Specifically, the discussions covered the procurement of a loan from the IRFC to support the network's expansion. To streamline the technical and financial assessment, SBICAPS has been appointed as the official consultant. This firm is tasked with conducting a comprehensive valuation of Phase-I and meticulously examining the proposed plans for the Phase-II expansion.

The scope of the consultant’s study is broad, covering vital aspects such as the modalities for a potential takeover of Phase-I, identifying necessary funding requirements, and the selection of lenders for future phases. Furthermore, the report will analyze the specific costs and financing structures needed for Phase-II. Officials noted that all future policy decisions regarding the Hyderabad Metro expansion will be guided by the findings and recommendations provided in this upcoming consultant's report.

To ensure these projects remain on track, the joint meeting involving Manohar Lal Khattar, Ashwini Vaishnaw, G Kishan Reddy, and A Revanth Reddy resulted in the establishment of a robust monitoring framework. A senior official from the central government and the Special Secretary of the MA&UD department in Telangana will serve as nodal coordinators. Their combined role is to oversee the entire process, facilitate seamless communication, and ensure the speedy execution of the development initiatives discussed during these sessions in the national capital.

Representing the state’s interests, G Kishan Reddy reaffirmed his commitment to the welfare and growth of Telangana. He emphasized that he would continue to act as a bridge between the state and the Union Cabinet to ensure that pending infrastructure requirements are met efficiently and that the vision for regional connectivity remains a top priority for both levels of government.
