Jayant Patil, an NCP (SP) MLA, highlighted the dire situation faced by farmers, noting that delayed rains and El Nino-related conditions have stalled Kharif sowing operations. Across major agricultural regions like Nashik, Jalgaon, Dhule, Solapur, Pune, and Sangli, growers of cash crops such as grapes, bananas, guavas, and pomegranates are grappling with immense losses without government relief.
In response, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis defended the administration's record, emphasizing that the state's massive Rs 36,585 crore farm loan waiver program remains focused on the long-term financial security of approximately 5.6 million farmers. Beyond addressing the agrarian crisis, the government is expected to prioritize legislation intended to bolster women farmers and introduce broader reforms aimed at simplifying public services through the revenue department.
