Petrol & Diesel Prices Surge: Here's the Current Scenario in Major Cities
Fuel prices are on the rise across major cities in India due to global crude oil market volatility, affecting consumers' wallets and daily travel expenses.
Highlights
- •Petrol prices surged above 100 rupees per liter
- •Diesel rates increased significantly in key cities
- •Global market pressures driving domestic fuel price hikes
- •Indirect impact on consumer spending power
With global market fluctuations pushing crude oil prices to new heights, petrol and diesel are following suit across India. These price hikes have particularly hit major metropolitan areas, posing a significant financial burden on consumers.
Major Cities Grapple with Increasing Petrol & Diesel Rates
In New Delhi, the price of petrol has breached 100 rupees per liter, reaching 102.12 rupees at the forecourt. Meanwhile, diesel stands at 95.20 rupees per liter in the national capital territory.
Mumbai witnesses rising fuel costs with petrol hitting a rate of Rs. 111.18 per liter and diesel at Rs. 97.83 each literacy. In Kolkata, petrol prices are also on an upward trend at Rs. 113.47 per liter while diesel is trading close to 99.82 rupees.
Chennai experiences similar trends with petrol fetching Rs. 107.77 and diesel clocking in at Rs. 99.55 each. Bangalore's fuel market has also seen increased costs, with petrol prices reaching Rs. 110.93 per liter, just under the diesel cost of Rs. 98.80.
Hyderabad follows closely with a petrol price of Rs. 115.69 and diesel at Rs. 103.82 per liter. Noida, which borders Delhi, reports petrol prices around Rs. 102.47 while diesel remains steady at approximately Rs. 96.23.
Global Factors Contributing to the Surge
The global rise in crude oil prices is primarily driving this surge in fuel costs. The recent geopolitical events and market speculation have intensified investor concerns, leading international crude benchmarks to touch seven-year highs. These increased input costs are being passed through to consumers as higher retail fuel prices.
