The victims belonged to the Juang community, which is recognized as a Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Group (PVTG). The state government is treating this as a priority, ensuring that the bereaved families receive necessary support during this period of profound grief.
Initially, an ex-gratia of Rs 4 lakh had been announced from the Chief Minister's Relief Fund (CMRF). However, after reviewing the gravity of the ammonia gas leak tragedy, the Chief Minister opted to raise the assistance to Rs 10 lakh per deceased worker. State officials, including Labour Commissioner Indramani Tripathy, have been actively monitoring the situation. A woman from Keonjhar was the latest casualty, bringing the total death toll to six.
