The Uttarakhand Police have officially assigned a new investigating officer to handle the Mussoorie murder case involving the death of Parupudi Radha Gayatri. The 27-year-old software engineer from Visakhapatnam was discovered deceased at a homestay on the Mussoorie-Dhanaulti Road on June 15, 2026, while on a vacation.

Following a formal appeal from the victim's family, the state police administration appointed Sampurna Nand Gairola to lead the probe. The family members, including the victim's father, had met with the Director General of Police (DGP) of Uttarakhand, Deepam Seth, to express deep dissatisfaction with the original investigation. They alleged that the previous officer had failed to act with sufficient urgency and lacked the necessary cooperation during the initial stages of the inquiry.

Developments in the Mussoorie Murder Case Investigation

The victim, who had been employed in Gurugram, was visiting the hill station with her husband, Sricharan Somayajula, a professional based in Pune. Her family has since filed serious allegations, claiming that she endured significant mental harassment following their marriage in November 2025. According to statements provided to officials, the husband allegedly utilized tracking devices on the victim's belongings and placed excessive demands for constant communication while she was at work.

The victim’s mother, Parupudi Satyavati, had reportedly been informed by her daughter that she was living under distressed circumstances and feared for her personal safety. Acting on these concerns and the family's persistent pleas, the police officially registered a murder case under Section 103(1) against Sricharan Somayajula on June 20, 2026. The newly appointed investigating officer has already initiated the process by meeting the family in Dehradun and formally recording their statements.

The investigation has also begun to scrutinize several procedural questions raised by the grieving family. Concerns were highlighted regarding personal items belonging to Parupudi Radha Gayatri that were reportedly retrieved from the homestay by her husband after the tragedy. Additionally, the family has pointed to inconsistencies in the reports regarding the presence of alcohol at the vacation property. As the inquiry moves forward, the family has sought support for a transparent process and has noted that the primary suspect allegedly departed Visakhapatnam shortly after the funeral. The authorities remain committed to establishing a clear timeline of events to ensure justice is served in this high-profile Mussoorie murder case.
