  • Users can now book their gas cylinders via a simple missed call to the dedicated hotline numbers provided by IOC
  • The system aims to facilitate easier access for all customers affected by the recent surge in demand and ongoing server issues.

New Delhi has seen a significant improvement in the procurement of LPG gas cylinders after server disruptions were addressed through a new missed call booking system. Despite ongoing international tensions impacting global supplies, Indian authorities issued a new hotline to ease customer concerns and streamline orders.

Due to spikes in bookings during periods when customers typically purchased only occasionally, servers struggled to handle the 15,000 additional demand for LPG cylinders daily. This pressure resulted in limiting daily cylinder supply to 20,000 units. This new direct booking method via missed calls has been praised as a solution to server glitches and customer inconvenience.

A spokesperson from Indian Oil Corporation (IOC) mentioned that the company now offers two hotline numbers for these purposes: 8927225667 and 8391990070. Users can easily book their gas cylinders by simply placing a missed call to any of these numbers.

In light of the current climate, families with multiple connections and individuals who subscribe to PNG (Piped Natural Gas) are particularly impacted. The surge in demand has posed challenges for regular customers attempting to book through existing channels. The new system aims to provide greater accessibility by allowing missed calls as a booking method.

For instance, Vineet Kumar, District Nodal Officer from IOC, explained that there are currently 85 gas stations distributed within the district, which serves approximately 130,600 connections. Currently, a total of 19,221 LPG cylinder bookings were registered daily. Against this volume and considering pending requests, 19,644 cylinders are being delivered daily.
