Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has firmly declared that the Israeli military presence in southern Lebanon will be maintained for as long as deemed necessary. This strategic commitment serves the primary objective of safeguarding northern residents and all citizens of Israel from ongoing threats in the region. The Lebanon conflict, which has intensified since early March, remains a focal point of current military operations.

Speaking at a recent public appearance, Netanyahu emphasized that the ongoing military campaign is essential for national security. He highlighted the dual necessity of addressing the Hezbollah presence in southern Lebanon while simultaneously ensuring that Iran does not achieve the capability to produce nuclear weapons. According to the Prime Minister, Israel's efforts have successfully thwarted Iran's existential threats and hindered its nuclear ambitions.

Regarding the operational conduct in Lebanon, the Prime Minister noted that Israeli forces are actively targeting militants while striving to minimize harm to non-combatants. He pointed to internal defense ministry research suggesting a significant ratio of five combatants neutralized for every civilian casualty. Netanyahu reiterated that the military actions are strictly directed at Hezbollah, rather than the Lebanese nation, expressing a long-term goal of securing a peace agreement once the militant organization is disarmed and dismantled.

The conflict has resulted in substantial human costs since early March. According to data provided by the Lebanese health ministry, the scale of the Lebanon conflict has led to 4,106 fatalities, a figure that encompasses 135 health and emergency service personnel. Netanyahu further asserted that the joint military efforts between the United States and Israel have dealt significant blows to Iran's Revolutionary Guards.
