Warnings for Rain and Hailstorms: Rain and Hailstorms have been warned in several states, including:
- Northwest India – Himalayan range states and plains
- Chhattisgarh on March 18th
- Rajasthan, Delhi, Punjab, Haryana, and Chandigarh on March 19th
- Sikkim and Odisha with an ‘Orange Alert’ regarding rain and hailstorms for Himachal Pradesh, Sikkim, West Bengal, and Odisha.
An alert has also been issued for severe storms—with wind speeds potentially reaching 70 km/h—in Uttarakhand, Western Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal, and West Punjab on March 19th and 20nd respectively.
Weather in Haryana and Punjab
The IMD forecasts that a Western Disturbance will remain active over Haryana and Punjab from March 19 to March 21. As this persists, the weather is expected to worsen significantly in districts such as Meerut, Shamli, Muzaffarnagar, Saharanpur, Bijnor, Amroha, Rampur, among others.
