With the arrival of March, North India is experiencing a heatwave that is expected to continue, with several states reporting intense temperatures. In Delhi, temperatures exceeding 35 degrees Celsius have been recorded, resembling heatwave conditions in some areas of Himachal Pradesh.
According to the Meteorological Department, a Western Disturbance will bring changes to the weather next week, with predictions of thunderstorms and rain in Bihar, West Bengal, Jharkhand, Odisha, along with snowfall in the Himalayan states of J&K, Ladakh, Gilgit-Baltistan, Muzaffarabad, Himachal Pradesh, and Uttarakhand.
The Meteorological Department has issued an alert for light rain in the coastal areas of Kerala and Andhra Pradesh on March 11, with an alert for light rain and thunderstorms in Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura on March 10. Temperatures in Rajasthan have soared, with Barmer and Madhya Pradesh recording temperatures of 40 degrees Celsius and 39 degrees Celsius respectively, leading to a heatwave alert in Gujarat.
In Kashmir, light rain or snowfall is expected in the higher mountainous regions between March 10 and March 12, with temperatures expected to drop by 4 to 6 degrees Celsius in many areas between March 9 and March 12. Severe heat waves have been recorded in Dharamshala and Bhuntar in Himachal Pradesh, with heatwave-like conditions also experienced in Sundernagar.
