A recent Madhapur drug bust has exposed a local narcotics distribution network, leading to the identification of eight individuals linked to the illicit trade. The operation, conducted by law enforcement, uncovered a concentrated consumption ring operating within a specific residential apartment complex.
According to investigative details, the primary suspect has been identified as 22-year-old Dhanekula Tharun Teja, who hails from Vijayawada. Authorities discovered that Teja was residing in an apartment located in Chandra Naik Thanda, falling under the jurisdiction of the Madhapur police. It is from this location that he allegedly facilitated the distribution and consumption of illegal substances, catering to a network of eight known acquaintances.
Details of the Narcotics Raid and Investigation
The successful intervention was carried out during a joint operation by the Madhapur police and the Kukatpally Special Operations Team (SOT) this past Saturday. During the search of the premises, officers recovered a significant quantity of contraband. The seizure included approximately 15 grams of MDMA, 382 grams of OG Kush ganja, along with nine mobile phones and various equipment used for weighing and packaging illegal substances.
To determine the extent of drug usage among those involved, police conducted urine tests on all nine individuals present, including Teja. Every person tested positive for drug consumption. Following these results, blood samples were collected from the suspects and forwarded to the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) for a comprehensive and detailed toxicological examination.
The eight individuals identified as consumers have been officially served notices. To address the issue of substance abuse, police have initiated counseling sessions for these individuals and have referred them to specialized de-addiction and rehabilitation centers. This proactive step aims to divert the consumers away from the path of addiction while the criminal investigation continues.
Furthermore, the investigation into the broader supply chain is currently underway. Investigators have named two individuals, Karthik and Pruthvi—both residents of Vijayawada—as the primary suppliers who allegedly provided the contraband to Teja. At this time, both men remain absconding. Police teams are actively searching for the pair, as they seek to dismantle the upstream supply network that fueled this Madhapur drug bust.
