Left-wing political organizations staged a robust demonstration on Saturday in Hanamkonda, expressing their strong opposition to the recent demolition of huts and residential structures belonging to impoverished families across the Hanamkonda and Warangal districts. The protesters emphasized the urgent necessity for the government to issue land ownership documents, known as house site pattas, and to prioritize the construction of Indiramma houses for those who qualify for these welfare benefits.
The organized rally saw thousands of activists and local residents marching from Ekashila Park toward the Hanumakonda Collectorate. The demonstration escalated into a confrontation when protesters attempted to block traffic near the Amaraveerula Stupam. In response, local law enforcement intervened, detaining several prominent figures, including CPI state secretary and MLA Kunamneni Sambasiva Rao, and CPM state secretary John Wesley, creating a tense atmosphere in the city.
Protest Against Housing Demolitions and Policy Neglect
Prior to being taken into custody, Kunamneni Sambasiva Rao addressed the assembly, leveling serious allegations against the administration.
