Bangalore: The Congress Legislature Party (CLP) in Karnataka will convene a crucial meeting at 4 PM on Saturday at Vidhana Soudha, with the primary purpose of electing its new leader. This comes after outgoing CLP leader Siddaramaiah resigned earlier this week, with Governor Thaawarchand Gehlot officially accepting his resignation and dissolving the Council of Ministers.
According to reports, D. K. Shivakumar is poised to be formally announced as the next Chief Minister following a session chaired by Siddaramaiah himself. Senior leader Randeep Singh Surjewala will likely attend, offering support for this historic decision.
Detailed Leadership Transition
Following his resignation, Siddaramaiah met with influential Congress leaders like Rahul Gandhi, Mallikarjun Kharge, and K. C. Venugopal in New Delhi to ensure a smooth transition of power. Shivakumar also held a meeting with Kharge to seek blessings before taking office.
Shivakumar emphasized that the swearing-in ceremony for him as the new Chief Minister will be scheduled after the CLP officially elects its leader, ensuring transparency and adherence to internal processes within the party.
