Bangalore, India: Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah is preparing to unveil the outcome of his crucial Delhi meeting involving top Congress central leaders following a breakfast event at his official residence 'Kaveri'. Sources indicate that the talks involved discussions on unwritten power-sharing agreements and reminders about his term limits.
This comes after Siddaramaiah paid tribute to former Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru, where he declined to comment further. Instead, he promised updates the following day when the breakfast event was scheduled for ministers and MLAs at 'Kaveri' in Bangalore.
Power-Sharing Discussions
Rumors suggest that Rahul Gandhi, the Congress party's central leader, has reminded Siddaramaiah about their mutual understanding on power sharing. This follow-up from Gandhi may have softened the Chief Minister's stance on continuing his tenure as C.M.
According to sources, both sides were keen to navigate a peaceful transition of power, with talks leaning towards an agreement that would see Siddaramaiah step down in light of his extended term.
Karnataka Public Works Minister Satish Jarkiholi added fuel to the speculation by stating that no official decision had been made as of yet regarding Siddaramaiah's resignation. However, he did not personally discuss these developments with him or reveal more details.
Matters seemed headed towards resolution when Congress MLA Iqbal Hussain, aligned with Deputy C.M. DK Shivakumar, said the central leadership had arrived at an internal decision. The uncertainty surrounding power transfer was, seemingly, nearing its end.
The Verdict
In a bid to maintain harmony, various stakeholders emphasized that the final word awaited the unfolding events of Thursday's breakfast meeting. With all parties showing willingness to compromise, observers remained optimistic about a smooth transition in the coming days.
