BENGALURU: Karnataka's Chief Minister received a vital socio-economic and educational survey report compiled in 2025 by the chairman of Karnataka State Commission for Backward Classes. The document, initiated during his tenure as Chief Minister from 2013 to 2018, provides an extensive analysis of various sections of society within the state.
Initiative's Genesis and Impact
The survey was first carried out in 2015 with a detailed examination of social and educational statuses. After stepping down from office in 2018, the report remained untouched for nearly a decade under the State Government led by Siddaramaiah until it was revived in 2025.
The Chief Minister emphasized the importance of this survey during his term as an essential tool to understand the socio-economic conditions and ensure inclusive development policies. He expressed hope that the newfound data would guide future initiatives towards social justice and equity.
"When I initiated these surveys in 2015, it was with a view to gather accurate information about every segment of society,"
Siddaramaiah stated. "Given that the earlier report had been shelved due to political hesitations, this reevaluation is crucial for our ongoing efforts towards justice and empowerment."The current survey aims at providing a scientific and comprehensive assessment of the population's socio-economic status, with the goal of better targeting resources and addressing disparities.
