The investigation into the serial death of eight people in Kharve village, located within the Baloda Bazar district of Chhattisgarh, has intensified significantly. Authorities have recently exhumed six additional bodies to facilitate forensic analysis, marking a major development in an increasingly complex case that has gripped the local community.

These tragic incidents occurred over a span of three months, specifically between February and May of this year. Disturbing allegations have emerged from local residents, who claim that the deaths may be linked to a suspected human sacrifice ritual. According to reports provided to the police, villagers allege that a local grocery shop owner, identified as Ramsai Jaiswal, may have provided the victims with liquor tainted with poison in a misguided attempt to uncover hidden treasure.

Expanding Forensic Investigation Into Serial Deaths

In response to the public outcry and persistent demands from the local population, law enforcement has taken decisive steps to uncover the truth behind the serial death of eight people. Last Saturday, investigators exhumed the first body to send it for a postmortem examination at the Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Hospital in Raipur. The recent exhumation of six further remains underscores the seriousness with which authorities are treating these suspicious fatalities.

Sub-divisional officer of police Koushal Kishore Wasnik addressed the media regarding the ongoing efforts, noting that the investigative process is comprehensive. While the accused, Ramsai Jaiswal, has vehemently denied all allegations during official questioning, police are meticulously examining potential connections between the trader and the deceased individuals. The probe into the serial death of eight people is currently running on a parallel track to verify various theories circulating within the village.

The procedural complexities are further highlighted by the different burial customs observed. Seven of the deceased individuals were followers of the Kabir Panthi sect and were buried according to their traditions, necessitating exhumation for testing. One other victim, who was Hindu, had been cremated. Officials estimate that finalizing the results from the forensic tests and postmortem reports will likely require another 10 to 12 days. As the community waits for answers, authorities remain cautious, stating that they are currently not in a position to draw definitive conclusions until all scientific evidence is thoroughly analyzed.
