Thane, India - In a significant crackdown on illegal drug manufacturing operations, the Mira Bhayandar, Vasai Virar (MBVV) Police have dismantled an illicit MD drug lab located in Zahirabad, Telangana. This operation resulted in seizures totaling Rs 20.72 crore and arrests of 18 individuals, highlighting the extensive scale of this illegal enterprise.

On April 4, the police conducted a raid on a house in Mira Road, Thane district, where they seized 1.324 kg of MD valued at Rs 2.66 crore. The investigation further led to the arrest of Sandeep Veeraswamy Naidu from Khalapur and Nasir alias Baya Janimiya Rokh and Mehmood Mehbooch Khan from Hyderabad, paving the way for additional arrests.

Seizure Details in Telangana

When the factory at Pichargadi Tanda, Zahirabad, Sangareddy district was raided, over 3 kg of MD, 2,293 litres of chemicals such as chloroform and acetone, along with raw material worth Rs 6.22 crore were confiscated. The seizure efforts also included recovery from areas like Mira Road, Agripada, Malvani, and Manori.

The arrests have led to the registration of cases under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, as well as the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita. Police Commissioner Niket Kaushik emphasized the importance of such operations in curbing the illegal drug trade, noting that MD remains a serious public health issue.
