In a significant move to enhance urban aesthetics, Hyderabad has launched an ambitious project to revitalize its infrastructure. The city's flyovers are undergoing a striking visual transformation as part of a ₹15-crore beautification drive. This initiative, spearheaded by the Cyberabad Municipal Corporation (CMC), aims to turn functional transit points into vibrant landmarks that capture the spirit of modern Hyderabad.

The P. Janardhan Reddy (PJR) flyover at Gachibowli serves as the pilot for this creative endeavor. The structure now features elaborate murals celebrating global football icons. Commuters can view portraits of international stars including Alexia Putellas, Aitana Bonmati, Cristiano Ronaldo, Lionel Messi, Kylian Mbappe, and Mohamed Salah. Notably, the display also pays homage to Sunil Chhetri, the celebrated Indian football star who hails from Secunderabad.

Enhancing Urban Spaces Through Creative Infrastructure Themes

Beyond the PJR flyover, the CMC has sanctioned similar beautification projects for key transit locations at Nallagandla, Kothaguda, Gopanpally, Hafeezpet, and Gowlidoddi. Officials indicate that the creative direction will vary by location to reflect different facets of progress and culture. Potential themes currently under consideration include women empowerment, adventure-filled outdoor activities, and futuristic cityscapes.

At the Kothaguda flyover, residents can expect an adventure theme featuring artistic depictions of mountain ranges, trekking trails, and cascading waterfalls. Meanwhile, the Biodiversity flyover, which already incorporates elements of animal life and greenery, is slated for further enhancements. The selection of motifs for other remaining flyovers is currently in the final stages of the planning process.

The success of the ₹15-crore beautification drive is already evident at the PJR flyover site. The initiative involves comprehensive work, including the painting of massive pillars and the coloring of parapet walls and safety grills to create a cohesive, eye-catching aesthetic. The community response has been overwhelmingly positive, with social media users sharing footage of the updated infrastructure. This effort underscores a broader commitment to improving the urban landscape, ensuring that Hyderabad maintains a modern and engaging identity for its citizens while navigating its growth as a futuristic city.
