Driving Innovation and Economic Growth in Telangana
During the event, Sri Sridhar Babu, the Minister for IT, Industries, and Legislative Affairs, Government of Telangana, delivered a keynote address highlighting the shift in global economic dynamics. He emphasized that the current era is characterized by a pursuit of ideas, innovation, and talent. According to the Minister, India has shown significant progress in the Global Innovation Index, moving from the 81st to the 39th position over the last decade, a trend that Telangana intends to spearhead.
The state has positioned itself as a critical player in India's startup landscape. Telangana's recognition as a 'Top Performer' in the central government's startup rankings reflects its proactive approach to policy and infrastructure. The Minister detailed several initiatives designed to sustain this momentum, including the AIKAM project, the Telangana Data Exchange (TGDeX), and a dedicated Rs. 1,000-crore Fund of Funds for Startups. Furthermore, the state is advancing its educational infrastructure through the proposed AI University, a Skill University, and the establishment of 100 Advanced ITIs.
Fostering a Culture of Future-Ready Entrepreneurship
Beyond high-end infrastructure and corporate growth, the government is focusing on foundational skills. Sri Sridhar Babu outlined efforts to integrate advanced learning into the public education system, specifically through the implementation of AI-enabled classrooms and an AI Literacy Mission. These programs are intended to prepare nearly 20 lakh government school students for the demands of a modern, digital-first economy, ensuring that innovation is deeply ingrained in governance and education.
The event concluded with an open invitation to the business community.
