The Telangana High Court has intervened in the ongoing dispute surrounding the planned e-auction of a government land parcel in Hakimpet, Hyderabad. In a recent development on Tuesday, the court decided to adjourn the hearing on several writ petitions that had challenged the proposed sale of the 8.24-acre property.

To ensure clarity regarding the disputed site, Justice N.V. Shravan Kumar appointed two advocate-commissioners to conduct a thorough inspection. These representatives, advocate N. Sridhar Reddy—representing the state—and advocate Shyamesh Agarwal—representing the petitioners—have been tasked with visiting the land on July 4. Both parties are expected to be present during this joint inspection, and the commissioners will subsequently file a report for the court's review. The legal proceedings have been pushed back until July 20 to allow for this process to conclude.

Legal Challenges to Hakimpet E-Auction Notification

The controversy stems from the HMDA (Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority) e-auction notification, specifically notification No. 52/EMU/HMDA/2026, which was released on May 20, 2026. This notification laid out plans to sell the land located in Survey No. 102/1 of Hakimpet. Although the event was originally slated for June 19, it was subsequently moved to July 2 after individuals claiming ownership of adjacent lands raised objections in the High Court.

The petitioners have raised significant concerns regarding the lack of a formal joint survey. They contend that the authorities failed to properly demarcate the boundaries between the land proposed for the e-auction and neighboring parcels, including those in Survey Nos. 102/2, 102/3, 102/4/1, and 102/4/2. According to the petitioners, moving forward without resolving these boundary conflicts could lead to complex overlapping claims, potential legal entanglements, and significant complications for any future buyers involved in the transaction.

In their plea, the petitioners have formally requested that the court set aside the auction notification as it pertains to the Hakimpet land. They have also asked that the authorities be directed to conduct a comprehensive joint survey and finalize the boundary markings before any further attempt at an auction is made. Furthermore, they are seeking an interim stay on all activities related to the sale until the writ petitions are fully resolved by the court.
