A thunderstorm and heavy rainfall alert has been issued for parts of India, covering 17 states from March 31. The weather department warns about potential disruptions, including hail storms and lightning, which could impact daily life significantly.
Threats across Hilly Regions
In the Himalayan hilly regions like Uttarakhand, temperatures remain low due to continuous snowfall. Additionally, strong winds with speeds up to 60 kilometres per hour may occur in Himachal Pradesh and Punjab.
Impact on Northern Plains
The plains of Uttar Pradesh and Delhi-NCR are not exempt from the weather disruptions. The Meteorological Department has issued a warning for rain, accompanied by storms and lightning, across several districts including Kanpur, Lucknow, and Auraiya.
Similarly, in Punjab, heavy rainfall with thunderstorms is expected in cities like Amritsar and Ludhiana. Residents are advised to exercise caution due to the likelihood of lightning strikes. Haryana too will face moderate-to-heavy rain with wind speeds reaching up to 30 kilometres per hour.
Bihar has also issued a warning for heavy rain, mainly hitting Patna and several neighboring districts. Thunder may occur in Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, Chhattisgarh, and Jammu & Kashmir from March 30 to April 4.
