Weather patterns across several northern Indian states are currently showing a shift towards heavier rainfall and storms. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) is issuing alerts for the period between March 29 to April 1, warning of heavy rain and the potential for stormy conditions in multiple regions.
Key Areas Affected:
In North India, particularly Delhi-NCR, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, and Punjab, significant rainfall is expected. Winds gusting up to 70 kilometres per hour are forecast for these areas. Specific warnings have been issued for districts such as Meerut, Baghpat, Saharanpur, Muzaffarnagar, Bijnor, Shamli in Uttar Pradesh, and a possibility of heavy rainfall and storms has been indicated until March 30 in Punjab.
Rainfall Alerts Spread Across States:
Extended rain alerts have been issued for several states including Bihar, Jharkhand, West Bengal, Sikkim, and Odisha. In Bihar, moderate rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms is anticipated, while in Jharkhand, an alert for moderate to heavy rainfall during specific days has been activated.
In Himachal Pradesh, rain is likely in Shimla, Chamba, Kangra, Mandi, Kullu, Manali, Lahaul, and Spiti. Heavy rainfall warnings have also been posted for areas like Sirmaur, Solan, Bilaspur, and Hamirpur.
Uttarakhand is under alert with rain alerts issued for Nainital, Dehradun, Pithoragarh, Chamoli, Rudraprayag, Bageshwar, Pauri Garhwal, Champawat, and Uttarkashi.
