The Mamata Banerjee government has announced a Ramadan Special Ration package aimed at providing food assistance to economically weaker sections of society during the holy month of Ramadan.
Essential food items such as flour at Rs 30 per kilogram, sugar at Rs 32 per kilogram, and chickpeas at Rs 65 per kilogram will be provided at subsidized rates to eligible families under the Antyodaya Anna Yojana (AAY) and Special Priority Category (SPHH) until March 19.
Necessary instructions have been issued to ensure that no eligible beneficiary is left out. The government emphasizes that this step is taken to address the increased demand for food items during Ramadan, particularly among the economically weaker sections.
Additionally, the government has emphasized the importance of updated KYC (Know Your Customer) status for ration cardholders, as it serves as a critical requirement for accessing food assistance. Those whose KYC status is not up to date may face difficulties in obtaining food supplies.
