In Hyderabad, a special emphasis was placed on the holistic benefits of yoga during a recent public gathering. Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla addressed the crowd, highlighting yoga as a way of life that goes far beyond simple physical exercise. He described the practice as a unifying force for the body, mind, and spirit, capable of delivering lasting physical health, mental tranquility, and spiritual equilibrium to its practitioners.

The event took place at the Parade Ground in Secunderabad, serving as a 24-hour countdown ahead of the upcoming International Yoga Day. During his address, Governor Shukla noted the significant cultural initiatives undertaken by the central government over the past twelve years. These efforts include achieving prestigious UNESCO recognitions, elevating eleven Indian languages to classical status, digitizing more than 1.2 million manuscripts, and successfully repatriating 668 cultural artifacts, all of which aim to preserve India's rich heritage.

Promoting Yoga as a Way of Life

The Governor further praised the dedicated efforts of Prime Minister Narendra Modi in establishing June 21 as International Yoga Day at the United Nations. He stated that the enthusiastic global adoption of this ancient discipline serves as a testament to the profound value of India’s traditional knowledge systems.

Union Minister G. Kishan Reddy also addressed the participants, noting that this preparatory yoga event has successfully established itself as a distinct local tradition in the city, having been observed annually on June 20 for the past seven years. He remarked that the event draws a diverse crowd, ranging from school children to senior citizens, alongside various public figures, including politicians and national leaders, all united by their interest in promoting wellness.

The importance of yoga as a way of life was further echoed by BJP State President N. Ramchander Rao, who characterized the practice as a divine medicine for students. He argued that it is highly effective in mitigating mental stress and encouraged the youth to adopt a regular practice to cultivate physical resilience, improve concentration, and ensure long-term fitness. Malkajgiri MP Etala Rajender also emphasized that incorporating these ancient practices into daily routines is essential for the physical and mental well-being of the youth, ultimately contributing to the future strength of the nation.
