The Indian government has officially adopted an advanced silicate mineral paint technology as part of its ongoing commitment to sustainability, improved durability, and enhanced fire resistance in major administrative buildings. This specialized painting solution is currently being applied to several high-profile structures, including the Prime Minister’s new official residence within the Central Vista project and various properties located in the Lutyens Bungalow Zone (LBZ).
This innovative silicate mineral paint is designed to offer long-term protection against harsh environmental conditions, such as intense sunlight, heavy rainfall, humidity, and general weathering. By forming a chemical bond with the substrate rather than merely creating a surface film, the paint allows walls to breathe. This mechanism effectively reduces the risk of common issues like dampness, peeling, and surface degradation, potentially providing a durable finish for up to two decades.
