The precious metal market experienced a noticeable downturn this Monday morning as 22-carat and 24-carat gold prices in key cities across India witnessed significant drops. In New Delhi, the national capital, traders reported a steep decline of ₹1,650 per 10 grams for 22-carat gold, setting its price at ₹137,700 per 10 grams. Meanwhile, the price for 24-carat gold plummeted by ₹1,730 to reach ₹144,590 per 10 grams.
Impact on Wedding Season
As the wedding season approaches, these fluctuations can impact buyers considerably. In major cities such as Mumbai, the rate for 22-carat gold also saw a drop of ₹1,650 to ₹137,200 per 10 grams; 24-carat gold followed suit with a decline of ₹1,730, settling at ₹145,790. In Kolkata, the price for 22-carat gold fell by ₹1,650 to ₹138,200 per 10 grams, while 24-carat gold experienced a similar decline.
In Hyderabad and Bengaluru, smaller but notable drops were observed as well. Meanwhile, in Lucknow, the rate for both 22-carat and 24-carat gold reflected a similar trend with decreases of ₹1,650 each.
Checking rates across other major cities shows similar trends: Chennai, Bhopal, and Ahmedabad all reported consistent drops in their respective 22-carat and 24-carat prices.
