Recent industry analysis indicates that hospitality and culinary graduates are currently witnessing a massive surge in global demand. This growing requirement for skilled professionals was a primary focus during a recent awareness session held in Hyderabad, which was organized by the Telangana Association of Educators in Culinary and Hospitality (TEACH). The event gathered experts to discuss the expanding career landscape for students entering the service sector.

Rising Global Demand for Hospitality and Culinary Graduates

Experts emphasized that the rapid expansion across diverse fields—including tourism, food service, aviation, cruise operations, luxury retail, events, and healthcare hospitality—has significantly elevated the need for qualified talent. As these industries continue to evolve, the demand for hospitality and culinary graduates has reached unprecedented levels, creating robust job prospects both within India and across international markets.

Osmania University has long been at the forefront of this educational push. Through its Faculty of Technology, the university has provided specialized professional degree programs for over three decades. Currently, 16 affiliated colleges offer the Bachelor of Hotel Management and Catering Technology (BHMCT) and the Bachelor of Catering Technology and Culinary Arts (BCTA) programs, ensuring a steady pipeline of industry-ready professionals.

Expanding Career Opportunities Beyond Traditional Roles

Prof. Kumar Molugaram, the Vice Chancellor of Osmania University, stated that the institution consistently updates its hospitality curriculum. These revisions are designed to align with shifting industry requirements and ensure that academic standards meet global benchmarks, preparing students for dynamic work environments.

The scope of these careers is far broader than many initially perceive. Sandeep Joshi, a vice president within a major hotel group, highlighted that graduates are no longer restricted to traditional hotel roles. Today’s professionals are increasingly sought after for positions in luxury resorts, airport management services, cruise lines, and large-scale event coordination. The versatility of the training allows these individuals to pivot across multiple high-growth industries.

Echoing these sentiments, Chef Amey Marathe, president of the Telangana Chefs Association (TCA), noted that contemporary culinary education provides expertise that extends well beyond standard kitchen operations. He emphasized that highly skilled culinary professionals are currently ranked among the most sought-after talent globally, reflecting a major shift in how the industry values specialized training and expertise in modern gastronomy.
