According to recent performance metrics, a remarkable 2,943 residential electricity consumers across the district achieved zero-cost utility bills during the month of May 2026. This achievement underscores the growing effectiveness of rooftop solar power integration in reducing household financial burdens and promoting sustainable living.

Official reports indicate that the total count of rooftop solar systems successfully deployed under the PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana in Ganjam has reached 7,085 units. When combined with an additional 4,102 systems commissioned through the Utility-Led Aggregation (ULA) Model facilitated by TP Southern Odisha Distribution Limited (TPSODL), the total number of operational installations in the region stands at 11,187. Consumer enthusiasm is further evidenced by the record of 16,760 applications submitted under the scheme. For instance, Trilochan Mallick, a resident of Belaguntha in Bhanjanagar, shared that his decision to install a 3 kW rooftop solar system resulted in immediate financial relief. He noted that his monthly power expenses, which previously fluctuated between Rs 600 and Rs 800, have effectively dropped to zero, significantly improving his household's economic stability.

The success in Ganjam is part of a broader push across southern Odisha, where TPSODL has successfully supported the installation of 16,756 rooftop solar units.
