Since early morning, the northern parts of India, especially Uttar Pradesh, have been experiencing harsh weather conditions with heavy rain. These severe weather events are expected to persist in the coming days without immediate respite.

Varieties of regions within Western Uttar Pradesh are currently enduring rainfall combined with thunderstorms and lightning, which results in marked drops in temperatures. Meanwhile, parts of Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh have also experienced cooling due to rain coupled with strong winds. In the southern regions such as South India, heavy precipitation accompanied by thunder showers is observed.

To provide comprehensive details about conditions expected, an alert concerning severe rainfall, stormy weather, and lightning has been issued by the Meteorological Department until March 22, 2026. The region under this announcement includes most of North India including Uttar Pradesh, parts of Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh.

A more detailed outlook on anticipated weather patterns across regions like Northwest India states that there will be moderate rainfall in Jammu & Kashmir, Ladakh, Himachal Pradesh, and Uttarakhand. Isolated areas within these zones may potentially face hailstorms from March 20, with the alert remaining valid until March 20.

Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, Rajasthan will witness scattered rain along with thunder and lightning until March 20. Weather experts suggest that these regions will further experience strong winds with gusts up to 50 kilometers per hour.

For Northeastern India, including Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya an alert for potential heavy precipitation accompanied by thunderstorms is issued from March 20 until March 22. This includes light and moderate rainfall in specific locations.

In Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura rain will be coupled with lightning strikes that could hit at strong gusty winds of between 30 to 40 kilometers per hour.

The Meteorological Department also released an alert for Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu and Kerala expecting light and moderate rainfall until March 20 and March 21, often accompanied by thunderstorms.

Meanwhile, Central and Eastern regions are expected to experience the most severe impact with heavy rain coupled with hailstones anticipated on March 21. This includes precipitation in Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha and Chhattisgarh states, as well as some isolated locations within West Bengal, Bihar, Jharkhand, and Odisha.
