Gatti Satyanarayana, president of the Godavari districts railway passengers association, has highlighted that the organization is being inundated with complaints regarding the lackluster maintenance of carriages. According to these reports, the presence of bugs and cockroaches is robbing travelers of sleep, resulting in an increasingly unpleasant journey. Specific trains identified as having poor maintenance standards include the Seshadri Express, Kakinada-Hisar Express, and the SKMT-Bengaluru-Balurghat Express. Many families, particularly women and children, are becoming apprehensive about using on-board restrooms due to the unhygienic conditions caused by these infestations.
In one notable instance, a passenger aboard the Balurghat train documented the severity of the situation by posting photographs of the infestation on social media. Despite an immediate response from railway staff, who attempted to remedy the issue by spraying pesticides near the berth, the relief was only temporary, with the insects reappearing within a few hours. This cycle of ineffective treatment has left many commuters questioning the quality of pest control measures currently in place.
Demands for Cleaner Travel Conditions
