As part of significant reforms within the Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO), members can now withdraw up to Rs 5 lakh from their EPF accounts via advanced auto-settlement mode, a move that will expedite access to financial relief. Current rules allow for a maximum withdrawal of Rs 100,000 per claim under auto-settlement.
Union Labor and Employment Minister Mansukh Mandaviya announced recently the EPFO has escalated its limit from Rs 1 lakh to Rs 5 lakh within just three days when members are in urgent need. This increase aims to bolster financial support for millions of EPF members navigating through challenging circumstances.
The unique automatic claim settlement facility, introduced with an eye on pandemic-related needs and now expanded to cover various personal emergencies including medical expenses, education costs, home purchases, and marriages, ensures swift process without significant human intervention.
