Eluru: SC Hostel Warden Suspended For Forcing Student Out at Night

A recent administrative incident in Eluru involving an SC Girls’ Hostel has led to swift official intervention. A hostel warden was placed under suspension after reports emerged that a young student was forced to leave the premises late at night. The controversy originated when the warden, identified as Swapna, allegedly expelled a Class 8 student from the Chintalapudi SC Girls’ Hostel during the nighttime hours. The student had reportedly requested a blanket, leading to an unwarranted confrontation that resulted in her being sent out of the facility. The situation escalated once news of the girl's ordeal reached the public domain, triggering immediate demands for accountability.

Government Intervention and Inquiry

Upon learning of the incident, Kolusu Parthasarathy, the Minister for Housing and I&PR, initiated a formal review of the circumstances. The Minister underscored the gravity of the situation, emphasizing that such behavior toward a student is unacceptable within the framework of state-run welfare services. Consequently, directives were issued to the Social Welfare Department and the District Collector to conduct a thorough investigation into the SC hostel warden suspension.

Following these official instructions, District Collector Vetri Selvi acted decisively by suspending the warden. The administrative process to address the SC hostel warden suspension is currently ongoing, with social welfare officials scheduled to commence formal proceedings starting Monday. The student, accompanied by her parents, has been formally invited to participate in the inquiry process to ensure a comprehensive understanding of the event.
