The Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in the Eluru district has reached a significant milestone, as authorities work to streamline voter registration data. According to an official update provided by Eluru District Collector K. Vetri Selvi on Saturday, a substantial portion of the enumeration forms has been successfully distributed to households throughout the region.
Data reveals that approximately 15,79,042 enumeration forms have been disseminated, which accounts for 96.04 per cent of the total required distribution. Of these collected records, officials have successfully digitised 3,30,537 forms, representing nearly 20 per cent of the overall target. The ongoing SIR process, which officially commenced on June 15, is scheduled to continue until July 14, aiming to ensure high accuracy in voter participation records.
Progress of SIR Digitisation and Distribution
While the district-wide distribution is nearing completion, specific administrative zones are being monitored closely. Pedavegi mandal has been identified as having the lowest current distribution rate at 95.42 per cent. In response, Collector K. Vetri Selvi has issued strict directives to all concerned officials, mandating that 100 per cent distribution must be achieved within the next 24 hours.
The administrative strategy involves Booth Level Officers (BLOs) conducting thorough visits to every household within their designated polling station jurisdictions. These officers are responsible for distributing the necessary enumeration forms and ensuring that all gathered information is promptly digitised. The overarching goal of this Special Intensive Revision is to guarantee that every eligible citizen is correctly included in the electoral roll, while simultaneously mitigating the risk of including ineligible individuals. Furthermore, the systematic process is designed to facilitate the correction of existing entries, the removal of duplicate names, and the formal enrollment of newly eligible voters.
During a field inspection in Pedavegi village, the collector personally observed the efforts of the BLOs and supervisors. She emphasized the importance of precision and speed in this electoral exercise, issuing a clear warning that disciplinary actions will be initiated against any SIR personnel who fail to keep pace with the established distribution targets. By maintaining rigorous oversight and utilizing digitisation, the district administration aims to uphold the integrity of the local electoral system.
