To improve pedestrian mobility and safety, the Cyberabad Municipal Corporation (CMC) conducted a large-scale drive on Saturday aimed at reclaiming public walkways. The initiative successfully cleared 30.29 km of footpaths across 15 different road stretches, marking a significant effort in the ongoing encroachment removal operation across the city. By removing 506 illegal obstructions, the municipal body aims to restore pedestrian space for its intended use.
Impact of the Encroachment Removal Drive
The municipal corporation’s recent operation focused on a diverse array of unauthorized structures that had long impeded foot traffic. Among the obstructions identified and dismantled were temporary food stalls, street vendors, and various other physical structures that had been illegally occupying public territory. These efforts were carried out across three major divisions: Serilingampally, Kukatpally, and Quthbullapur zones, ensuring a wide-reaching impact on local infrastructure accessibility.
In the Serilingampally zone, authorities targeted five specific stretches covering 10.8 km. This area saw the removal of 197 encroachments, with clearings conducted along critical routes such as Gandipet X Road, Patancheru Main Road, and the stretch from BHEL Circle to RC Puram Nagulamma Temple. Other notable areas restored include Telecom Nagar Road in the Serilingampally Circle and Manjeera Pipeline Road in the Miyapur Circle.
The Kukatpally zone witnessed the clearing of 3.16 km of pedestrian space, resulting in the removal of 105 encroachments. This action affected three primary locations: HUDA Techno Enclave Road in Madhapur Circle, Mithra Hills Road in Allwyn Colony Circle, and KPHB Road No. 1 in Kukatpally Circle. These efforts are expected to improve daily commutes for residents living in these densely populated areas.
Finally, the Quthbullapur zone accounted for the largest portion of the operation, with 204 encroachments cleared across 15.53 km of road stretches. Seven specific areas were addressed, including Narsapur Road, Suchitra Road, and the stretch from Om Janda Circle to Rajiv Gruha Kalpa. Additionally, officials cleared Devender Nagar Road, Nizampet Road, Mallampet Road, and Medchal Railway Station Road, further enhancing the pedestrian environment in the region. This systematic encroachment removal drive underscores the administration’s commitment to maintaining clear, safe, and usable walkways for all citizens, addressing long-standing complaints about blocked pedestrian paths.
