NEW DELHI: The Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, has renewed his demand for Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan's resignation over the NEET-UG 2026 controversy. In a social media post, Gandhi criticized the government's response to the allegations of irregularities in the national medical entrance test, emphasizing that the issue concerns millions of youths and thousands of students' future.
In his statement, Gandhi accused the government of avoiding accountability despite the significant impact on students' lives. 'The PM remains silent when millions of youth are on the streets,' he said, highlighting a lack of government focus on addressing student grievances.
NEET Paper Leak and Student Protests
The controversy has sparked nationwide protests by the National Students' Union of India (NSUI). The organization staged 'Mashaal March' demonstrations in various parts of the country, demanding strict action against alleged leakages. These incidents have put political pressure on the government to implement stringent measures and investigate thoroughly.
Gandhi stated that the Congress would not cease its protests until a foolproof system is established to prevent future paper leaks. 'Until Dharmendra Pradhan resigns and such a system is in place – we will not stop,' he added, reiterating his call for accountability and transparency in government educational policies.
