Chiranjeevi to Hold Second Round of Talks for Telangana Cinema

Industry insiders reveal that megastar Chiranjeevi is scheduled to hold a second round of meetings with producers and exhibitors in the coming days. The aim is to resolve the contentious issue involving rental and percentage-sharing models in Telangana, an area known for over 300 single-screen theatres.

Chiranjeevi's Diplomatic Mission

According to sources close to the developments, Chiranjeevi has been actively seeking a mutually beneficial solution before May 30. The talks in his earlier meeting were aimed at understanding the concerns of both parties—producers and exhibitors—over the long-standing dispute between their respective models.

He acknowledged the financial pressures faced by all stakeholders, emphasizing that an abrupt switch from one model to another could significantly impact revenue streams and operational stability. The negotiations are currently focused on determining how theatres should be compensated: a fixed amount or a percentage share of earnings.

To ensure that both sides remain protected, Chiranjeevi is reportedly gathering independent feedback through his network before finalizing any recommendations.

While producers seem willing to implement the percentage-sharing model after June 30, exhibitors are pressing for it to take effect immediately following the release of Peddi, citing years-long demand for such a transition. The discussions also involve a broader context where theatres receive financial stability and equitable returns.

During his 158th film project, Chiranjeevi is collaborating with director K. S. Ravindra to potentially recreate the success of their previous blockbuster, Waltair Veerayya.
