VIJAYAWADA - Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu underlined the critical role of healthcare in fostering a prosperous state. During the inauguration of Lalitha PVS Hospital in Guntur district, he highlighted the importance of healthy citizens for building a wealthy and happy Andhra Pradesh. The 600-bed hospital, built with modern medical infrastructure, offers services across 32 medical specialties under one roof. CM Naidu expressed hope that this facility would provide quality healthcare to poor and middle-class families.
Focused Initiatives for Comprehensive Healthcare
One of the chief initiatives, the Sanjeevani program, aims to bring advanced medical services closer to people's homes. The CM stated that every citizen would have a digital health record and that 42 diagnostic tests would be conducted at home. He added that the program would guide people on medication and hospital visits, promising accessibility and convenience.
Naidu also announced plans for a Universal Health Policy under which each individual would receive free treatment worth up to Rs 2.5 lakh. Emphasizing preventive healthcare, he encouraged proper food habits, exercise, and lifestyle changes to reduce disease burdens. He warned against the excessive use of urea in agriculture, highlighting its harmful effects on public health.
With the aim of attracting premier hospitals and promoting medical tourism, Andhra Pradesh is striving for a position as a leading healthcare destination. Naidu praised the establishment of dedicated yoga training cells in corporate hospitals and integrated technology with healthcare services. Additionally, he lauded Lalitha Group's focus on setting up this advanced medical facility in Amaravati instead of metropolitan cities like Hyderabad or Bengaluru.
