The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) initiated an investigation into the alleged dowry death of Twisha Sharma by conducting on-site inquiries at her in-laws' residence in Bhopal. A six-member CBI team, which arrived late Monday night, questioned Twisha's husband, Samarth Singh, currently under police custody. According to reports, Mr. Singh claimed that his family had provided Mrs. Sharma with Rs 7 lakh during their marriage. The team then visited the Army Cantonment Kurukshetra Mess in Old Bhopal to speak with Mrs. Sharma's family.

Legal Proceedings and Contested Bail

The CBI took over the investigation from the police, re-registering a case against Twisha's husband Samarth Singh and her mother-in-law Giribala Singh under sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Dowry Prohibition Act. The Central Bureau of Investigation also registered cases citing sections 80(2), 85, and 3(5). Mr. Singh's account will be verified by a special investigation team (SIT).

Meanwhile, all eyes are on Wednesday's scheduled hearing in the Madhya Pradesh High Court concerning petitions filed by Twisha's parents and police to challenge an anticipatory bail granted to Giribala Singh. The high court had earlier offered time for Ms. Giribala to respond to additional submissions made by Twisha's family.
