Ian Williams Langford, who hailed from the United Kingdom and was serving as one of BCCI's vital communication support staff during the tournament, passed away at his hotel room in Mumbai.
Murky Circumstances Surrounding the Engineer's Death
Langford had been staying at the Trident Hotel since March 24 to cover the IPL. According to reports, he returned to his room on March 29 after attending the match between Mumbai Indians and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR). The shocking discovery came on March 30 when hotel staff discovered Langford's lifeless body lying on the floor of Room Number 2715.
No clear cause for his death has been determined yet, but an official report was filed at Marine Drive Police Station in Mumbai. Investigations into what led to Langford's passing are still ongoing. The hotel doctor had been called to examine him before pronouncing him dead following the incident.
