As March wanes and April draws near, the weather outlook in India is painting a picture of unusual changes. While northern regions continue to experience lingering cold due to ongoing snowfall, central and southern parts are set for a heatwave reminiscent of June. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued detailed warnings and alerts across various states regarding rain patterns, thunderstorms, and weather conditions.
Rain Predictions and Weather Alerts
Delhi, often bustling with sweltering temperatures in April, is expected to experience a mix of pleasant drizzle accompanied by gusty winds on Monday evening. However, the minimum temperature is predicted to dip slightly at 18 degrees Celsius tomorrow, providing some respite from the heat.
The weather for Uttar Pradesh (UP) and Bihar is forecasted to shift dramatically with scattered light rainfall in several districts. For most of UP and parts of Bihar, a 'Yellow Alert' has been issued, warning residents of potential precipitation.
Rajasthan faces its challenges too. The central region faces an ongoing alert for light to moderate rainfall across the Shekhawati division and Jaipur, Bharatpur, and Kota divisions. While most areas might experience only scattered drizzle on April 1st and 2nd, an alert has been issued for a Western Disturbance expected between April 3rd and 5th.
In Jharkhand, cloud coverage is anticipated with the chance of rain in most regions. Scattered thunderstorms are likely over northern areas like Palamu, Garhwa, Chatra, and Latehar, where residents should prepare for heavy winds, lightning, and potential thunderstorms.
Kashmir Valley will see moderate rainfall on Tuesday. While the weather is expected to improve slightly thereafter, light rain and snowfall are predicted in isolated places between April 3rd and 7th.
Why It Matters: Impact of Unusual Weather Patterns
The unusual heat and monsoon patterns pose significant challenges for agriculture, water management, and public health. Farmers need to plan accordingly for crops that might be affected by early heatwaves or unexpected rains. Public authorities should prepare infrastructure to handle potential flooding in regions already prone to heavy precipitation.
