VIJAYAWADA: Andhra Pradesh has taken a significant step towards its goal of creating one entrepreneur per family, with the launch of an Entrepreneurship Training and Mentoring (ETM) programme. The initiative was recently unveiled by the Andhra Pradesh Micro, Small and Medium Enterprise Development Corporation (APMSMEDC), in collaboration with Bharatiya Yuva Shakti Trust (BYST).

During a formal ceremony attended by Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu and industry leaders, APMSMEDC and BYST signed an agreement to empower micro and small entrepreneurs through structured training, mentorship, digital learning, and enterprise support.

ETM Programme Overview

The ETM programme is designed to foster entrepreneurial skills among individuals within AP's diverse economic landscape. By the end of this initiative, approximately 10,000 entrepreneurs are expected to be supported, with a network of around 4,000 trained mentors. These mentors will offer long-term guidance and assistance, ensuring that emerging businesses can navigate various challenges efficiently.

Strong emphasis is placed on enhancing market access, industry linkages, financial literacy, sustainability practices, and digital capabilities for the benefit of aspiring entrepreneurs. The programme includes a range of activities such as entrepreneurship orientation workshops, digital learning modules, grassroots outreach, and regular mentoring sessions across districts and industrial clusters.

APMSMEDC's role in facilitating stakeholder convergence, inter-departmental coordination, and mobilization support for the programme underscores its commitment to fostering an inclusive business ecosystem that prioritizes youth, women, and underserved communities. Lakshmi Venkataraman Venkatesan, founder and managing trustee of BYST, emphasized the critical role mentoring plays in transforming innovative ideas into sustainable enterprises.

The collaboration reflects a shared vision for creating a robust entrepreneurial environment where every household can contribute to the state's economic growth through innovation and enterprise development. This initiative is expected to have a profound impact on the socio-economic fabric of Andhra Pradesh, driving employment generation, income generation, and local enterprise sustainability.
