The Andhra Pradesh government has officially announced a strategic partnership with Canva, a globally recognized visual communication platform. This collaborative initiative aims to provide free, unrestricted access to advanced design tools for all students, teachers, and officials within the state's public school system. The agreement was formalized on June 18 between the Education Department, Samagra Siksha, and Canva representatives.

Empowering Students with Modern Digital Design Tools

By implementing this partnership, Andhra Pradesh has established itself as the pioneer state in India to offer statewide access to Canva for Education. This digital transformation effort is designed to equip learners with essential 21st-century capabilities, including sophisticated presentation creation, video editing, infographics, and various other forms of dynamic visual content. These resources are intended to nurture vital design-thinking, problem-solving, and digital literacy skills among students.

To ensure a cohesive learning experience, the technology will be integrated directly into existing infrastructure, including Chromebooks, the Google workspace ecosystem, and the state's proprietary LEAP (Learning Excellence in Andhra Pradesh) App. This integration seeks to create a seamless environment where technology enhances classroom engagement and individual creativity. Furthermore, the State Council of Education Research and Training (SCERT) will curate specific template libraries in both Telugu and English. These templates will be strictly aligned with the state curriculum and specific Foundational Literacy and Numeracy (FLN) objectives.

Focus on AI Literacy and Safe Digital Learning

A critical component of this initiative is the emphasis on building capacity among the teaching workforce. Educators will receive structured support through a Training of Trainers (ToT) model, which includes guidance on the responsible and effective use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools in the classroom. This approach enables teachers to leverage emerging technologies while strictly maintaining a safe, protected learning environment for students.

The implementation will be carried out in four distinct phases across the state to facilitate smooth adoption. Robust data protection and privacy safeguards, including role-based permissions and teacher-controlled AI features, have been integrated into the platform architecture. Nara Lokesh, the State Human Resource Minister, highlighted that this project is a pivotal step toward transforming the state into a premier hub for knowledge and innovation. By removing barriers to high-end digital tools, the government aims to empower all public school students, ensuring they are well-prepared for a future-ready economy.
